Statement of Condemnation: Attack on the ICRC Humanitarian Convoy in Sudan
The Sudan International Human Rights Organization (SIHRO) vehemently condemns the heinous attack on the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) humanitarian convoy in Khartoum, Sudan. This deliberate act, leading to tragic loss of life and injury, including to ICRC staff, represents a gross violation of international humanitarian law. SIHRO is appalled by the blatant disregard for the Red Cross emblem, a universal symbol of neutrality and protection in conflict zones. We stand in solidarity with the victims and the ICRC, urging immediate action to ensure the safety of all humanitarian workers and civilians in conflict areas. Such attacks undermine the critical work of aid organizations and the broader international efforts to support vulnerable populations in Sudan.
We call upon all parties involved to respect international humanitarian law, prioritize the protection of civilians and humanitarian personnel, and facilitate safe passage for those trapped in conflict zones. SIHRO is committed to advocating for justice and upholding human rights in Sudan and will continue to monitor the situation closely.
