Statement of Condemnation (SIHRO)
Elmielg City: Condemnation of Assault on Civilians
The Sudan International Human Rights Organization (SIHRO) vehemently condemns the recent actions of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Elmielg City. Reports have surfaced of RSF members intimidating residents and internally displaced persons (IDPs), leading to the tragic death of one individual and the injury of several others. Additionally, we denounce the reported looting of households by RSF members, an act that further exacerbates the suffering of the local populace.
SIHRO calls upon the RSF to urgently and fully adhere to the agreements reached in the Jeddah Talks. It is imperative that the RSF remains steadfastly committed to the principles outlined in the Declaration of Human Rights. The protection and respect of these rights are foundational to the stability and prosperity of Sudan.
Moreover, SIHRO urges all political actors involved in the ongoing conflict to exercise restraint and eschew actions that might further ignite tensions. We implore these actors to remain dedicated to resolving the conflict peacefully and commit to a path toward democratic transition. The future stability and democracy of Sudan hinge on these commitments.
Finally, SIHRO reaffirms its unwavering commitment to supporting the Sudanese people’s human rights, dignity, and aspirations. We stand in solidarity with all those who yearn for a peaceful and just Sudan. SIHRO will continue to monitor the situation closely and advocate for the rights and welfare of all Sudanese citizens, working tirelessly to ensure that their voices are heard and their rights are upheld.
In the spirit of humanity and justice,
Sudan International Human Rights Organization (SIHRO)
