Sudan’s Conflict and The Displaced: Between the Violence and the Hunger
More than half a year since the conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Speed Forces (RSF) erupted on April 15, the overall situation is devastating, and the country is heading to a nationwide collapse. As of this October, more than 5.6 million people have been displaced, with an estimated 1.2 million fleeing to neighboring countries, Egypt, Chad, and South Sudan. The Refugee returnees and Sudanese refugees face an unhinged, inhuman situation, especially regarding food security, protection, and health. Last week, a frightening report surfaced regarding forty-two deaths due to “hunger, lack of drinking water, and the spread of diseases,” something beyond imagination as not Chad, but rather Sudan is facing such dire warnings.
This eerie situation continues as most Sudanese people face life-threatening conditions, especially women and children.
