Statement: World Volunteer Day

On the occasion of World Volunteering Day, the Sudan International Human Rights Organization (SIHRO) extends its heartfelt gratitude and recognition to our brave volunteers, especially those serving in the challenging environments of war zones. Our special acknowledgment goes to the courageous individuals in Darfur Province and Khartoum, whose resilience and dedication in the face of adversity are nothing short of heroic. We also extend our profound appreciation to the women and youth volunteers who, despite overwhelming challenges, continue to champion human rights and provide hope in the darkest of times.

In light of the invaluable work carried out by these volunteers, SIHRO urgently calls upon the international community, particularly the International Criminal Court (ICC), to implement protective measures ensuring the safety of those operating in war zones. Providing security and support to these volunteers is not just a necessity but a moral obligation to safeguard those who risk their lives for the greater good.

Furthermore, SIHRO stands in solidarity against the ongoing conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). This strife devastates communities and hinders our collective peace and human rights efforts. We, therefore, urge for a unified and robust response against the continuation of this conflict.

In this critical juncture, SIHRO appeals to the international community, particularly the European Parliament and the UK Government, to play a pivotal role in advancing the peace efforts through the Jeddah Talks. These talks must be reinforced with international support and advocacy to pave the way for a sustainable and inclusive peace agreement.

As we observe World Volunteering Day, let us remember the power of collective action and the impact of selfless service. SIHRO stands committed to working alongside our volunteers and international partners to create a world where peace and human rights prevail for all.

Together, we can make a difference.
